Each one of these shirts started out its life with the single intention of identifying an inmate. They were identical, uniform, institutional. To many they represented the loss of freedom and the guilt, regret, or injustice that resulted in that loss.
When we came across these tees, we weren’t sure what to do with them or whether it was right to use them at all. In the end though, we recognized that this project embodied more than any other what Better With Age stands for.
This is a story of redemption.
These shirts remind us that no matter where we started out, no matter what we’ve been through, no matter how many times we’ve been counted out, we can always become Better. Everyone deserves another chance to be something new and whatever darkness lies in our past only magnifies the beauty of that transformation.
